The Brief
To undertake the safe removal and treatment of invasive rhododendron growth along a canal embankment, protecting the structural integrity of the embankment while complying with environmental and waterway regulations.
The Challenge
The works were carried out within a high-risk environmental setting, requiring strict adherence to legislation governing vegetation management and the controlled use of herbicides near watercourses. The embankment location added further complexity, with difficult access and the need to prevent environmental contamination at all stages.
Our Solution
Our team delivered a carefully planned vegetation management programme, combining controlled removal methods with compliant herbicide treatment. Rope access techniques allowed safe access to the embankment without ground disturbance, while detailed method statements and environmental controls ensured all works met regulatory requirements.
The Result
The project was completed safely, fully compliant with legislation, and in line with the agreed programme. Invasive growth was successfully treated, protecting the embankment structure and surrounding environment. The works were delivered on time and to schedule, with the client satisfied with both process and outcome.
